Joanne Parker lives in Westborough and rejoins AGS to
encourage and renew her abilities in drawing and painting. She attended
Worcester Art Museum School in 1944/1945 when Herbert Barnett was the
school director, Mary Murphy taught painting, and Leon Hovsepian was
the sculpture instructor. Sculpture is still her favorite art form. Later, while living in Connecticut, she initiated an art group in
her residential complex and found inspiration in weekly supervision by instructor Diane Marinaro. In the last few years, Joanne has taken a wide variety of courses at WAM. She is presently working mostly in pastels and charcoal, finding
still life and the human form to be the most interesting and
challenging subjects. She has occasionally given or sold some of her
work, but is mainly interested in the process and evolvement of the task before her. Joanne’s icons are found among the Impressionists and Post
Impressionists beginning with El Greco, and from the New York school,
Wolf Kahn’s knowledge and use of color and design is unique, original
and fascinating to her.
