Art has always been a part of my life in some form. The first use of my art work by others was a junior high school band program cover. In high school, my parents gave me a set of oil paints for Christmas and my mother signed me up for a class in a woman’s cellar painting from a file collection of cutout pictures. This was a dream come true for me. However, I was not allowed to study art in regular school. Thus, my professional career has been teaching where I recently retired as a professor at Quinsigamond Community College from the Business Administration, Technology, and Health Care Departments.

Through the years, I have taken an occasional evening or college art course for my own enjoyment. When my children were small, I taught for several years porcelain ceramic doll classes out of my home. I also sold some of these porcelain dolls to the Old Sturbridge Village gift shop and the Mark Twain House gift shop. I designed and made the clothes for these as well. Sewing and working with colors is one of my passions which I also used through the years to design my quilts. Mostly, my art is self taught. However, eight years ago I signed up for a watercolor class in Hudson, MA which led to watercolor classes at the Worcester Art Museum with Kat O’Connor and Bill Griffiths. Presently, my preferred medium is watercolors. The first sale of my work came three years ago when two of my paintings were sold at auction at my church. Recently, I received the 2007 People’s Choice Award from the Northborough Art Guild.
